I believe that there are 3 different tools that every new Youtuber needs for success. In saying that, you don’t need expensive tools and we’re going to focus on some cheaper tools that I’ve used since day one.
1. The Selfie Stick

In fact, when I created the video above, I was using one of those tools. It’s a selfie stick that will allow you to create videos even when you’re outdoors or doing different types of activities like walking around. And, you don’t even have to have one with a remote control if you don’t want to. You can just edit out the bits that you don’t want later.
The selfie stick that I use just collapses into a tube and I can easily pop it into my back pocket. This makes it very easy to carry around with you. It’s not a fancy one and doesn’t even have a remote control but it works well for me. You can check it out for yourself here. However, you can get a fancier one if you want but it’s really not necessary.
So, why am I showing you these tools? It’s common for others to show you the tools that they use but when you’re new, you really don’t want to spend a lot of money on expensive equipment. Those are things that you can get later, once you’re more established and have built yourself a following.
In the beginning, to create a video, all you need is your phone and a selfie stick. Plus, there are two other tools I’m going to show you as well.
2. The Tripod

A tripod is really useful when you’re sitting in one spot and you don’t want to hold a selfie stick for an extended period of time. So, you can have the selfie stick for when you’re walking around or just want to shoot a quick message and the tripod when you’re sitting in one spot and have a lot to say.
The one I have is very inexpensive and I’ve had the same one since day one. You can check it out here. I use it all the time, even when I’m sitting in front of my computer. In this case, I put my webcam on it. Now, it’s not necessary to have a webcam when you’re starting out and that’s why I’m not recommending it at this stage.
However, I believe that a tripod and a selfie stick are absolutely necessary to start with.
3. Lavalier Microphone

If you feel that your audio isn’t being picked up very well by your phone, don’t get a new phone. Instead, plug in one of these microphones. The one I use has a 6-foot cord and is really good at picking up the sound, even when my tripod is further away. You can check it out here.
I don’t use this a lot, but it’s really useful when my tripod is about 5 feet away and I want perfect audio on my videos. It can be really handy if you’re in a noisy environment or you’re shooting your video outside.
These three tools are all you’re going to need when you’re first starting out. So in the beginning, don’t go out and spend a heap of money. But, on the flip side, don’t sit there and not spend money. You have to have the right balance since it’s impossible to start a business or a hobby without spending some money.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my recommendations for the basic tools that you need to start your YouTube business.
