6 Tips for Success with Affiliate Marketing

In this article, we are going to go over six tips for success with your affiliate marketing program. For those of you that don’t know what affiliate marketing is, it’s when you promote somebody else’s product on your blog or through other means. Then, if someone clicks on your link and purchases the product, you receive a commission.

An affiliate marketer is the middleman. He or she is the one in between the buyer and the seller. Sellers who don’t want to run ads, use this method to have marketers promote their products through word of mouth. This is one of the best ways to encourage people to buy.

Affiliate marketing is a very easy business to start and if you do it well, you can turn it into a full time income. So, here are my 6 tips for success in affiliate marketing.

1. Share Something You’re Passionate About

Promoting products you’re passionate about will be easy for you and that passion will show through in your writing.

So, let’s use the idea of camping. Did you know you can take a hobby that you have and turn it into a business? Let’s say you love to go camping. You love to bring your family and you’re very passionate about it.

Why not start a YouTube channel and start talking about your camping experiences. How does that turn into affiliate marketing?

You could share products on your YouTube channel or on your blog about camping. And every time you talk about different things, you can put the affiliate links in there and that will help you make some commission.

Where Do You Get Your Affiliate Links?

There are many companies that sell camping products that have affiliate programs and one of them is Amazon. It’s very easy to join the Amazon Associate program and start promoting the products available on the platform.

Plus, you can even do a Google search for ‘camping affiliate program’ and I’m sure you’ll find many others.

2. Brand Your Message

In affiliate marketing, it’s important to brand yourself. For example, my brand is how to start an affiliate marketing business. That’s what I am primarily all about. So, if you want to find out about affiliate marketing, then you’ll come to my YouTube channel or my website.

If you’re going to talk about camping, then stick with it. Don’t start talking about how to build a chicken coop. Even though you have a little farm and you build chicken coops, don’t integrate that into your channel.

If this is something else you’re passionate about, you could start a different channel. I saw one guy who had six different channels and each one was a different topic. On another note, maybe you like to ride motorcycles and you take your motorcycle with you when you go camping. If this is the case, then by all means talk about that.

Remember to be very consistent in your brand and in your messaging about who you are. This will help you to have more success on your channel. However, you don’t have to have a YouTube channel.

You can have a successful affiliate marketing business without a YouTube channel. You can easily do all your promoting through a website and even email marketing. Personally, I really like to use YouTube which is why I talk about it a lot.

3. Think Outside The Box

If you’re promoting camping products, you probably will promote things like sleeping bags and tents. But how about thinking outside the box a little.

People might be searching on Google to find the best places to camp in the USA. Therefore, as an affiliate, you could team up with a travel agency and promote some trips that they have on offer.

The reason I’m sharing this is because within your niche, you want to find some high ticket items to promote as well. This will allow you to earn higher commissions. Plus, it’s a cheap and practical way for companies to get their products noticed because they don’t pay you unless a purchase is made.

4. Solve A Problem People Are Searching

What kind of problems would a camper have? I just typed into Google ‘what to do when it’s raining and you’re camping’. Remember, not everybody knows what to do in this situation. There are people out there that have never camped before and they’re asking questions in Google and want to find out what to do.

So, you could write an article like ‘12 tips for camping in the rain’. Then, you could throw in some links to products that would be useful in this scenario.

This is another reason to think outside the box. What are problems that people will have in your niche that you can solve? And then, just casually start talking about all those little products that they might need to solve that problem.

The neat thing about affiliate marketing is you’re not selling anything. You’re just sharing and you’re sincerely sharing.

5. Re-purpose Your Content

Let’s say you’re going to talk about things people can do while camping in the rain. You could create a YouTube video about this and then turn that into a blog post for your website.

You could also share this information with your email subscribers. In addition, you could post about it through the social media channels that you use like Facebook or Pinterest.

Remember, the more content you have out there, the more money you’ll make and it makes you look more of an expert and more credible.

6. Audience Intent

What is your audience’s intent when they search for what they’re looking for? Are they looking for the solution to a problem or are they looking for entertainment?

When people are searching for things, remember they have a different reason for why they’re searching for it. For example, what is the best camping tent? The people who are asking that question really want to know which tent is the best. In fact, this is what we would refer to as a ‘buyer intent’ question.

You can make a whole playlist on this or a whole blog series about very different tents. You could do a review on each one and then you can start comparing them.

Ultimately, as an affiliate marketer, you’re looking to solve people’s problems and help them find products that are suitable.

But remember, you don’t have to go out and buy all the products that you’re promoting.

In your review articles, you can say that you’ve done some research and these are the pros and cons that you’ve discovered. And, you can even let your readers know that you’re saving them some time by doing all the research for them.

I hope this information has been helpful to you. Remember, as an affiliate marketer it should be fun to go and find new ways to promote your products. So, try out some of these tips or share some of your own in the comments below.
