In this article, I’m going to show you how to add a hotlink to your YouTube channel page. I actually had one of my followers ask whether it was possible to put a link on your YouTube page that takes you to another channel. So, to answer the question, I did some experimenting and discovered that you could.
This led me to gather some ideas of things that you might want to put in your YouTube banner and how to add the links.
Some Examples Of What Other YouTubers Have Done
Let’s look at some examples of what other YouTubers are doing with their links.
This is PewDiePie’s channel and he has links in the right-hand corner that take you to a page that displays his merchandise.

Another big YouTuber, Ryan has a link that takes you to his website called Ryan’s World.

Here’s the page for Andrei Jikh. His videos are all about finance and he has more than one link. It is possible to put up to 5 links in your banner and Andrei has a total of three. One goes to his Instagram account, another goes to his website and the third one leads to a site about Bitcoin playing cards.

The last example we’re going to look at is Gillian Perkin’s channel. She also has a link that takes you straight to her website.

If we go to my banner, you’ll notice that I have two links. One takes you to an offer for a free ebook on how to start affiliate marketing and the other link goes to my website. One thing I want to mention is that with the first link, you’ll actually see a description of what it is but any subsequent links will only show the favicon or logo.

How To Add A Hotlink
Let’s now learn how to place those links in your banner. The first thing you want to do is go to your “customize channel” page. Once you’re there, follow these steps:
- Click on the “branding tab”

This is where you can change your profile picture, your banner image, and your watermark.
- Click on the “basic info” tab

- As you scroll down, you’ll see that you can change your channel URL under Custom URL. You need to have a certain number of followers before this option is available.
- Under this, you’ll see where you can add your links. You can have a total of five and right now, I have four.

For this demonstration, I’m going to add a 5th link that goes to someone else’s YouTube channel. To get the link, I went over to Ryan’s World and just copied and pasted the URL on his channel page.

Don’t forget to select “publish” once you’ve entered the information.
You may have noticed earlier when I showed you my channel that I only had 2 links showing up on my banner, even though I now have five. If you look at the section under which you add the links, you’ll see that you have the option to choose how many links you want to show on your banner.
I’m going to change that to show the “first 5 links” so that the link I just added to Ryan’s World will show up.

As you can see, all five links are now visible. The little YouTube icon on the end will take you straight to Ryan’s World. So, this reiterates that you can actually link to other channels or feature other channels on your YouTube banner.
You might remember that I made videos about why you might want to feature other channels and the benefits. Here’s a link if you want to find out more about this.
It might also be that you have multiple channels yourself and now you know how to link to these to ensure that your viewers can easily access them.
