Today, we’re going to discuss how to create a second channel on YouTube. Plus, I’m going to explain the benefits and why you might want to create another channel. I’ll also explain how to feature it so that you can get more exposure.
The reason I want to explain this to you is because creating a new channel isn’t as intuitive as you might think. In fact, I tried to create a channel the way I thought was correct but it turned out, I was wrong.
So, if you’ve been struggling with trying to figure this out, I’m going to explain the correct way to create a second or even third channel.
How To Create A Second Channel The Correct Way
When I first decided to create a second channel, I had trouble trying to figure it out. First, I clicked on the icon under my name and selected “switch accounts”. Then, my logic told me to click on “add account”. But when I clicked on that, it just kept bringing up a list of my accounts.



So, that is definitely not how you create a new channel.
Then, quite simply by accident, I came across this URL – youtube.com/channel_switcher. This gave me a list of all the channels that go to my Google account.
When you go to this web page, you’ll see a button that says “Create a new channel”.

When you click on that button, you can then name your new channel by giving it a “brand” name. Once you enter the brand name and select “create”, you just have to follow the instructions to set up your new channel.
Why Have Different Channels?
From what I’ve researched, you can have as many as 50 different YouTube channels under the one Gmail address. The advantage to this is that sometimes people will set up different channels to focus on different topics.
For my new channel, I want to set up a Vlog to talk about our life out in the country. This doesn’t relate to my business channel, so a separate channel for this is ideal.
My inspiration for this is so that people can get know about me and where I live. However, I want to keep this separate from my business account where I talk about building your business, affiliate marketing and working on your YouTube channel.
This is something that you might want to do yourself. Plus, you might want to set up a third channel that talks about motivation or something similar.
So, the point I’m trying to make is that you want to have different channels for all the varied topics or niches that you might want to talk about. This guarantees that people who come to your channel will find useful information on the topics that they’re searching for.
The Benefits Of Having More Than One Channel
You might be wondering what the benefits are of having more than one channel.
Let’s look at an example.

This is a YouTuber who I follow. Her name is Cathrin Manning and she has over 300,000 subscribers. She’s been around for about 5 years and mainly focuses on talking about YouTube and her success story.
If you go to her channel page, it shows her uploads. This is basically what most of our channels show.
However, if you scroll down the page a little, you’ll find a section that is called “Daily Vlogs”. In this section, she has videos about gardening, a video about how she broke up with somebody and lots of other videos about her life.
Her business channel, however, is dedicated to explaining how to be a better YouTuber and how to grow a successful business through videos as well as different money making tips.
Aside from her business channel, Cathrin also has a personal Vlog. On this, she basically talks about her daily life. She creates a video every couple of days.

This is what her Vlog looks like.
Going back to her main business channel, she has a playlist near the top that displays a list of her daily Vlogs. In fact, she can pick and choose which videos she wants displayed in this section.

The advantage to having a personal playlist showing up on your business channel is that people who follow your channel might want to learn more about who you are. You see, we’re all basically nosy and are interested in the lives of other people who are successful.
So with Cathrin’s “Daily Vlogs” you can learn more about her, if that interest you. And, you can do it right there on her main channel without having to go to her personal channel.
In addition, she may occasionally talk about creating videos and using YouTube on her Vlog and this might entice her viewers to visit her business channel.
You Should Also “Feature” Your Other Channels
Another thing that Cathrin has done is featured her other channel on her main channel

That’s one of the benefits of having more than one channel. Not only does it separate the different topics that you want to cover but it also allows you to feature yourself on the different platforms to get them all connected. This way, your audience gets to see all the different channels that you have.
