Complicated design may be – but graphics don’t always have to be created by the elite. Fortunately, there are FREE graphic design tools that allow you to make beautiful social media posts, logos, banners, and more – all in an easy-to-build system. Today, we’ll take a look at how to create posts on social media that get noticed! Social media posts that are outstanding using a popular free graphic design site – Canva.

Canva does offer a variety of templates. In the above video I provide a walk-through of creating a Facebook post, but you can also create letterheads, invitations, PDFS, etc. – all from basic templates. Canva also saves all your designs, so you can go back and edit projects at a later date. You can also copy over a previous project and simply edit it a bit (e.g. use the same template but a different picture).
When using Canva, you can customize to your heart’s content. Even when building off of a template, you can replace graphics, change fonts, adjust sizes, etc.
One perk of Canva is that it has an impressively solid free plan
You can build almost anything you want using their free designs, fonts, colors, and photos, but if – for example – you really want a particular “pro” plan graphic, you can purchase that single item (usually about a dollar) instead of having to sign up for an entire paid plan.
Get creative with what you’re searching for in Canva. You can find free elements, photos, etc. for almost any project, and if you’re willing to be flexible, you can almost always find great options.
A note: when looking for images for your graphic design projects, know that you can’t simply take any picture from the internet. Because of copyright issues, you need to make sure you search for elements such as “free stock photos” or “free clip art”, etc. You can also purchase subscriptions to sites such as Shutterstock if you need a high volume of photos.
Another great feature of Canva is that you can work from your desktop, but you can also download Canva’s app onto your phone and keep working on projects on the go. This makes it very easy to download and post social media designs from your phone. If you’re someone who likes to have things done ahead of time, you can create all your social media posts ahead of time and then post them at your leisure.
