In this article, we’re going to talk about common email marketing mistakes and behaviors you should avoid in your campaigns. You know that as an affiliate marketer, you definitely want to incorporate email marketing into your overall strategy.
However, there are some behaviors that you want to avoid when you’re sending out emails and we’re going to go over six of them.
1. Never Come Across As Being Needy Or Desperate For The Sale
When writing your emails, just be natural. Offer your subscribers the solution to a problem that they may have. Remember, you’re in the business of helping people solve problems.
Therefore, ensure that you don’t seem like you really need to make a sale in your emails. That’s one sure-fire way to put people off and may make them hit the unsubscribe button.
2. Never Come Across As Being Sleazy
You should never be too pushy in your emails. You’re not a used car salesman. You may believe that the product you’re promoting is absolutely amazing and that it worked wonders for you. However, it may not be the best answer for everybody.
Consider the healthcare industry, for example. There are so many different programs. So, why are some people successful and some aren’t? This is because different people are successful with different plans.
Remember, the product you’re promoting may be the best thing for you but it may not be the best thing for everyone. Therefore, just share it naturally and focus on the benefits that you gained from using it.
3. Don’t Be Manipulative
You don’t want to be manipulative. And this is very important. You keep hearing how it’s good to have a sense of urgency in your subject line. And that’s true, but you don’t want to be fake about it.
If you say something like ‘you only have 24 hours to respond’, make sure that is actually true.
4. Don’t Come Across As Cheap
When you’re promoting a product in your emails, you don’t want to claim that it’s the cheapest on the market. Your subscribers will do their own research and if your product is not the cheapest, they’ll soon let you know.
Therefore, don’t overprice your products but don’t make them too cheap either. People really do equate price with quality.
5. Never Offer Something Which Sounds Too Good To Be True
Remember, there are no magic pills so make sure what you’re offering is realistic. In fact, you should always ask yourself whether your offer is believable, plausible, realistic, likely, possible, credible, probable, imaginable, natural and reasonable.
These are the opposite to an offer being far fetched, which really means it’s too good to be true.
6. Avoid Being Shady
You definitely don’t want to come across as being unethical or legally questionable. In fact, this type of behavior could get you into a lot of trouble so avoid it at all cost.
So, next time you’re writing an email to your list, make sure that you avoid these six email marketing mistakes and behaviors to ensure that your campaign is successful.
