Have you ever wondered how you can get those curved letters or titles on your thumbnail? In this article, I’m going to show you how to curve text on your Youtube thumbnails using Canva. I use Canva for all my YouTube thumbnails because it’s fast and easy.
You can also use this method for other things that you might create, but today we’re going to focus on thumbnails. Let’s get started.
Creating A Thumbnail In Canva

I already have my thumbnail template, so I’m going to choose an element so that I have a background.
Now it’s time to add a heading. Here’s what to do.
- Go to “text” and select “add a heading”

- You can increase the size of the text if you want or move it around to wherever you want.
- You might even want to increase the transparency of your background image to really make your text pop.
- Plus, you can change the color of your text as well.
Adding The Curve To Your Text
To add the curve to your text, just click on it and then click on “effects”.

Here you can see a selection of different things that you can do. For instance, you can add a shadow, splice it and lots more.
To add a curve, scroll down until you see the “shape” section and you can see the curved text.

When I first did this, I thought that I would just curve the text and position it over my photo. However, you can change that curve and make it larger. You can also change the degree of the curve by reducing the curve angle. The lower the number, the larger the curve.

You can also change the curve to go the other way by taking the numbers below zero.

Once you have the curve just right, you can go back to “effects” and add any other changes to the text that you want.
For this demo, I’m using the Canva Pro account. If you want to get a 30-day free trial, you can get one by clicking here. This will give you plenty of time to play around with all the features to see what you can create.
I hope this was helpful and you learned a new trick to improve your YouTube thumbnails.
