In this article, I’m going to show you how to find free images, photos, or graphics that you can use without going to a lot of different sites. You can use these on your website, your Instagram posts, and all over social media.
I know they are many lists of free image sites out there. However, I’m going to show you a very, very easy way that you can find the perfect photo. When I learned this, I was completely blown away.
This will save you so much time. And time is valuable, especially if you’re just starting your own business.
Free Photo Sites Don’t Always Have What You’re Looking For
Any time you’re looking for photos, you probably go to different websites and blogs and you keep getting these lists. If you’re like me, you start saving all these different locations where you could go to get free photos.
However, I found that I kept going to all these sites and I just couldn’t find the right photo. And sometimes the same ones kept popping up. Or, different photo companies would throw ads in for their paid solutions. It was just really frustrating.
The Solution: Google
I’ve since found a one-step easy solution that I’m going to share with now.
So let’s go ahead and create an Instagram post.
I like to use Get Stencil to create my thumbnails and my Instagram posts. Get Stencil does offer some images but sometimes, I just can’t find what I want. I might even type what I’m looking for into their search, but the results are just not right.
My next step then, is to go to Google and search for the photo that I’m looking for. Now you might be saying, but we can’t use those images because of copyright issues, right? You’re absolutely correct.
However, some of these photos are actually ones you’re allowed to use. I’m going to show you how to find those in these easy to follow steps.
- Go to settings

- Then select ‘advanced search’

- Scroll down until you find ‘usage rights’

- Click on the drop-down and select ‘Creative Commons Licenses’

These are images that people have created that they’re allowing others to use free of charge.
You can find a lot of useful images using this method. Remember though, each time you do a new search, make sure that ‘creative commons’ is selected.
If you use this method, you’re sure to find a whole bunch of photos and images that you can use completely free of charge.
Here’s A Cool Get Stencil Tip
While we’re talking about Get Stencil, I want to show you an extra tip that I’ve discovered. Let’s say you have some text on an image and you want to make it really ‘pop’ out at your followers.
Get Stencil allows you to outline your text. Canva doesn’t have this feature which is why I switched to Get Stencil instead.
All you have to do is highlight your text and click on ‘outline color’. This allows you to outline certain areas of your text to really make it stand out.
I hope these tips have been helpful for you and they’re going to help you to make your social media posts stand out from the competition.
Let me know in the comments below if you found these tips useful. Or, if you have another tip that you want to share, please do so.
