Have you wondered how to find the perfect niche for your new YouTube channel? For many people, the number one thing that’s holding them back is that they feel that their passion isn’t something everybody wants to hear about.
In this article, I’m going to show you a way that you can take some of those odd passions that you don’t think anybody wants to know about and turn them into a profit. I’m going to show you how you can find out if it’s something that people are actually going to search for.
Plus, you’re going to be surprised because I’m going to pick some things that you might not have even thought about.
I thought about making this video while I was riding on my four-wheeler down the driveway to get the mail. So, I thought I would take you on a little trip today and talk about how I came up with the idea.
As I was riding my four-wheeler, I wondered “what are some topics that people might look for that we think nobody wants to know about?”. Or maybe, something that there isn’t enough information on.
The first thing that came to mind was “riding four-wheelers”. I’m not an expert on this topic and I don’t know a lot about it. So I wondered if it was something that other people made videos about. And, are they profitable?
Anyone can make a video, right? But, are there channels that are getting lots and lots of subscribers and views on a topic like “riding a four-wheeler”?
Results Of A Search On Riding A Four Wheeler
Well, I decided to look it up. To help with my research, I use a tool called TubeBuddy. It gives me some more information to find out if people are actually looking for a topic I’m researching.
Here are some of the video titles that came up when I did the search:
- Riding Four Wheelers! (Ran From Cops) – 766,000 views
- We Went To McDonalds On Four Wheelers! Insane – 1.4 million views
- Teaching My Brothers How To Ride A Clutch 4 Wheeler – 337,000 views
- Insane Four Wheeler Mudding! – 963,000 views
- Fastest Quad Rider On The Trails – 2.2 million views
All of these have got millions or very close to millions of views. So it’s definitely a topic that people want to see. Plus, my TubeBuddy tool is going to give me more information.

The search volume on this is excellent. Plus, the competition is “fair”. You want the competition to be fair or better. If a search term has poor competition, then it doesn’t tend to do very well. This is because there might not be many people searching for that topic. So, you want some competition but not too much.
How TubeBuddy Helps You To Come Up With Topics
Now, let’s look at the “related searches and most used tags”. This is something I really like, as well. Often, when you create a channel, you might ask yourself “what am I going to talk about?”. There are two things that you can do.
1. Have a look at the “related searches”. These are different topics that you can use. They’re called long tail keyword searches. You could create a video on each of these topics. That’s because these are things that people would be searching for.
Also, you could talk about different techniques or different trails that you’ve been on. And, if you’re mechanical, you could even talk about how to maintain your four-wheeler.
2. Look at the “most used tags”. These are some of the top single-word keywords that you would definitely want to use.
So, this is where TubeBuddy helps you to come up with those keywords that people are searching for.
How To Determine If A Topic Will Be Profitable
Let’s go into one of the channels to see if this topic is likely to be profitable. We’ll click on the video “Insane Four Wheeler Mudding!” to inspect the channel.

Obviously, there’s a lot of action in this channel. You can see that this channel has 219 million total views. This is very good for just 500 videos. It looks like they’re making about two to three videos a week at least in the last 30 days. These have had just over 12 million views.
So, this is definitely a profitable niche to get into if this is something that you love to do. I honestly didn’t think it would be that high.
What I want you to get from this is that if you have an idea, a passion, something that you’ve been thinking about and you just haven’t taken that leap, do a little bit of research first. See if it’s something that people are looking for.
Let’s look at another channel. I clicked on the video titled “Fastest Quad Rider On The Trails” which has 2.2 million views.

Have a look at all the different video topics covered here. And, the different playlists.
You don’t want to copy what other people do, but you can get some ideas of what people are looking for.
How To Come Up With Your Own Ideas
One of the things that you can do after you come up with a topic that people are searching for is to grab a pen and paper or use the notepad on your computer. Then, start writing down content ideas as you come across them.
For instance, you might use “riding four-wheelers” as your main topic. Then, come up with four sub-topics like riding in different places or maintaining your four-wheeler. You can then create your videos around these topics. This will allow you to come up with hundreds of different content ideas.
You might think this is impossible, but it’s really not. Once you get your brain going, you’ll start thinking of all types of ideas. Especially if you have a passion and love for your topic of choice.
Results Of A Search On Quilting
Let’s do a search on “quilting”. Surely there aren’t any profitable channels about quilting, right? I don’t think it’s something that a lot of people do anymore.
I was pleasantly surprised with the results. Here’s some of the top videos that came up:
- 44 Dollar Store Quilting Supplies – My Haul – 150,000 views
- The Final Stitch Episode 5: Straight Line Quilting at Home – 46,000 views
- Best Places to Buy Quilting Fabric Online – 122,000 views
If this is your passion, you could do a whole series of videos on how to make a certain quilt step-by-step. This could keep your channel going on forever.
Even though the number of views are in the thousands and not the millions, this is still a profitable niche. Especially if it’s something that you love to do.

The search volume is excellent. However, the competition is “poor”. What this means is that there are not a lot of people out there doing this. So, you might not get millions of views but you might get thousands.
Results Of A Search On The Best Places To Read Books
There are a lot of videos on this topic. And, a lot of them are actually videos about reading and best places to read.
So, let’s look at the channel “Emmmabooks”. She created a whole channel about reading. There’s a lot of scope here. You could talk about different genres or different age groups of books.
The whole point of all this is to find something that you love to do and create a YouTube channel around it. That way you can share your passion and turn it into a profit.
Remember though, that you don’t want to deviate from your main topic too much. This is because Google analytics will look at your channel and what your keywords are and make sure that you’re staying within those keywords.
If you start delving into different topics to create that one video that will bring in a million views, you’re going to disappoint your viewers. This is because if those people visit your channel and find all these videos on a totally different topic, they’ll quickly unsubscribe.
That means that you won’t be building a loyal audience of avid fans. So, you want to ensure that you stay within your niche at all times.
Do Your Research
Before you start your channel, make sure that you do your research like I just showed you. It might be quite fun. And, you might find yourself watching lots of videos while you do it.
My suggestion would be to set yourself a timer so that you stop and get back to work when you need to.
And, you should definitely consider using TubeBuddy to help you with your research. It’s really easy to install as a Chrome extension. It has tons of other features as well. Plus, they’re constantly upgrading it and making it easier to use.
Here’s the link, if you want to try it out yourself.
